Children's Dentist in Catford

Healthy Smiles For Life

You’re never too young to take good care of your teeth. So it’s our goal to teach every child who walks through our doors the steps to proper care. Our specially designed children’s program helps children take control of their health.

Our team includes preventative dental nurse, dental hygienist and dentist. Each child’s program is customized to their specific needs. We look at their age, developmental abilities, and work with kids in fun, engaging ways. Kids really respond to the program, and leave our practice with a goodie bag, wanting to brush, floss and rinse. Many parents report that their kids play “dentist” at home, too.

Our goals are for kids to:

Have fewer cavities and gum infections
Have more self-confidence and improved self-esteem
Are prepared for dental treatments
Have parents who are more involved
End up with fewer dental-related phobias
Gain a positive dental outlook that lasts a lifetime!

Below are four types of appointments we offer for children

Fully comprehensive children’s visits (45 min session, including a dental hygiene appointment) £65.00

We use models of teeth, toothbrush and disclosing tablets to engage them through play. The goal is to make them comfortable in our dental practice, motivate them to care for their teeth at home and make healthy dietary choices. These fully comprehensive sessions end with a cleaning and a friendly check-up by a dentist including preventive measures such as topical fluoride treatment and fissure sealants (the biting surfaces sealed).

Regular six monthly visits - (20 min session) £35.00

Check-up by a dentist including radiographs if needed, preventive measures such as topical fluoride treatment and fissure sealants (the biting surfaces sealed) as soon as permanent “back” teeth have erupted.

Preparing children for dental treatment (15-20 min session) £35.00

Kids get a chance to “play dentist” and do dentistry on puppets, which gives them a chance to get comfortable with the tools and procedures that will be used during their appointment. It’s a great way for children to develop coping strategies so they can feel more in control. At this appointment, no treatment will be carried out.

Treatments (30 minute sessions) POA

Specific dental treatments are based on the child’s age, psychosocial needs and coping abilities; our goal is always to make it an experience that’s as easy and stress-free as possible for the child. We encourage parents to get involved.

Our goals are for kids to:

Have fewer cavities and gum infections

  • Have more self-confidence and improved self-esteem
  • Be prepared for dental treatments
  • Have parents who are more involved
  • End up with fewer dental-related phobias

You may be wondering, why should one pay privately for treatment which is available without charge on the NHS?

The answer is simple. Under the NHS, the dentist treating your child spends very little time remedying a problem plus there isn’t sufficient time spent educating the child and ensuring they are at ease. Having dealt with hundreds of little patients, and most of us being parents ourselves, we have realised that it is of utmost importance to educate a child from an early age.

Therefore we spend plenty of time building a good foundation for oral health. We educate them by demonstrating that a healthy mouth does not just come from good oral hygiene, it is just as important to have a good diet and so on.

A lot of preventive work is also carried out during the visits. This stops children from developing painful problems, which will then have to be dealt with.
